Artist Spotlight - Barton and Leir Gallery in Cedar
Barton and Leir Gallery in Cedar
Barton and Leier Gallery showcases the work of Nixie Barton and Grant Leier, professional full time artists exhibiting across Canada. Well known for their use of colour and unusual imagery combinations, their home gallery focuses on experimental works as well as traditional.
The gallery is located in a converted barn on an old hobby farm in the Cedar-Yellowpoint area. In addition to original artworks the gallery sells a unique collection of giftware, much of it with a garden theme. Unusual items you won’t find anywhere else are displayed both in the barn and in the garden. The gallery and many areas of the garden are wheelchair accessible. We are open Thursday to Sunday from eleven until five April through November. July and August we are open every day.
The garden at Barton and Leier Gallery is just under an acre of winding pathways, decks, garden rooms and structures. Now established for fifteen years, the garden is home to many unusual plants and trees in creative combinations that are an inspiration to gardeners of all ages. Concrete shrines, paved walkways incorporating found objects and a multitude of containers including pots and even an old Fargo truck are found throughout the garden. Plan to spend an hour exploring this charming and funky acreage, you won’t be disappointed.
