During the summer, Parksville Beach hosts the one-of-a-kind Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibit where the best sand sculptors from around the world gather and display their unique skill.

For the more adventurous, Nanaimo hosts the Naked Bungy Jump for Schizophrenia in late February.
